On October 8, under the UNICEF assistance, a child-adapted room was opened at the Legal Aid consultation center in Duisi. At the opening ceremony the ribbon was cut by Razhden Kuprashvili, the Legal Aid Service Director, Ghassan Khalil, the UNICEF Representative in Georgia, and Sabine Makhli, UN Resident Representative in Georgia. In the child-adapted room, with the help of special furniture and items, a space is created that is fully adapted to the emotional and psychological state and development of adolescents. As it is known, the Legal Aid Service is actively involved in the enforcement of the Child Rights’ Code and the Juvenile Justice Code in Georgia. Therefore, it is extremely important that this room allows lawyers to interview, inquire and consult juveniles in a comfortable environment. On the same day, the honoured guests met Duisi students and talked about their topical issues, including the Child Rights’ Code. The child-adapted room at Duisi consultation center is the second in a row. The first one was opened at Rustavi Legal Aid Bureau in 2018 with the aid of UNICEF as well.
